Felt Coffee - the place to feel the moment

When I came to Seoul and got my room in the shared apartment in Hongdae I was curious to explore my neighborhood and so it happened that I found out about Felt, the Coffee place just a few steps away from my home. I found out very quickly that Seoul has an crazily amazing coffee scene but I was a bit skeptical first, as I nearly saw any costumers when I passed it a few times. One day I was in the me-and-only-me mood so I gave it a go. And it was the beginning of a small love story as the coffee is amazing and the space is very calming.

Due to its very minimalistic and clean interior with no tables, you can’t work on your computer. You are kind of forced to sit, drink and settle. They kept their simple concept also through the menu as you can only choose between a few coffee drinks, which I loved. Who doesn’t get overwhelmed sometimes by the way too many choices in the menu when all you really need is some good basic stuff. Not only they convinced me in their taste of good music from their vinyls but also from their kindness and their constant quality as I visited often after this.

Mostly I came alone, wrote down my thoughts, had a cigarette in the sun or got a coffee to go, when I was hungover going to some Saturdays drawing lessons or just before going to university. Sometimes I came with 승석 whom I really miss since I left Seoul. Due to his sometimes childish and life loving personality but also very deep and wise opinions my time during my exchange semester got leveled up. Like most Koreans he’s hard working and thinks that real earned money is wet money as it comes from sweat and not from lazy speculations. He is one of the most generous persons I got to know in my live, his mind and mine having a lot of intersections and if there is something I found out recently it’s not about some one seeing you - everyone can look at you - but more about the other person seeing the world the same way you do.

Anyway, when I had to leave in December the place was crowded on weekends because they made themselves a name in the coffee network of Seoul. I guess this is also about them selling their own beans but if you want to have the real experience, go there on a weekday. Take your time and feel the moment. Feel Seoul at Felt Coffee.
